97 Grand Prix Air Bag Light

Air Bag SDM, these things don't like to live in water. Air bag codes were set and light was on. The tip off was the bags resistance reading, 0.0 on both bags, resulting from the water shorting the circuits. Flow charts walked right past this, water in the SDM was never considered when writing them.

After pulling the seats, console, and carpet, there was about three inches of water in the floorpan. After cleaning this mess and replacing the SDM (flow charts would have indicated bag replacement as well based on codes and results of testing) bag resistance is back where it belongs, and light is out. Now the leak must be traced and repaired. On this one, water was getting in to the air intake at the cowl and was corrected by building a tent over it with rubber sheathing.
