Ford DIS Ignition

Crank position sensor, (first trace) is used by Ignition module to generate PIP, (third trace) which is used by PCM to generate SPOUT, (second trace) which is sent back to ignition module to fire coils. Ignition module is a microprocessor controlled module that decides which coils to fire and when based on signals from CKP and SPOUT.

Here is PIP and SPOUT relationship at idle.

Here is PIP and SPOUT at 2500 rpm.

Same signals at a longer time base (idle)

And here (2500) These images show PCM is telling the ignition module to adjust timing, by adjusting pulse width of SPOUT.

CKP and SPOUT at idle.

CKP and primary at idle.

PIP and primary at idle.

PIP and secondary at idle.

PIP and secondary at 2500rpm.

All signals here in relation to #1 secondary triggered off same.
